The awards dinner is titled Dining in the Dark and is considered a "distinctive sensory awareness experience in which guests participate in an unforgettable dining adventure, in complete darkness."

Diners, according to organizers, "will wear special light-blocking blindfolds and enjoy their entree using only their heightened senses of smell, sound, taste and touch."

Funds raised go toward research for prevention, treatment and cure of degenerative retinal diseases like macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa and Usher syndrome.
