Families will find Summer Fun in June, July and August at the Rochester Public Library.
Held every Wednesday but one, now through Labor Day, Summer Fun offers a variety of family-friendly programs, including singing and storytelling with Jack Pearson, a magic show by the Magic of Isaiah, and musical fun with Amanda Grace.
"Summer Fun is held every Wednesday morning, except the week of Rochesterfest," said Heather Acerro, the library's head of youth services. "We'll have music, magic, science. Something for every member of the family."
Taking the fun outdoors, Wednesday afternoons (1 p.m.) and Monday mornings (10 a.m.), families are invited to catch up with the library's BookBike at a Rochester park.
"We'll be at Soldiers Field Park the first and third Mondays, Slatterly the second and fourth, Kutzky Park the first and third Wednesdays, and Silver Lake Park the second and fourth," Acerro said. "We have about 120 books on the BookBike — a lot of the most popular ones. Kids can check out books with their library card. If you don't have a library card, we can issue you one."

But Mondays and Wednesdays aren't the only days for family-friendly library fun. Kids and families will find something to do every day of the week during the summer (except Sundays when it's closed), including Rainbow Family Meet Up (first Tuesday of the month), TeenScape Crafternoon (select Thursdays), and Storytime at Quarry Hill Nature Center (first Saturday of the month).
"Tuesday nights, Wednesdays and Thursdays are our big family programming days," Acerro said. "I encourage families to check out the library's color-coded online events calendar to get a good idea of everything we offer.
"Green events are BookBike events, light orange is geared toward preschoolers, orange is families, dark orange, tweens, and yellow is for teens," she said. "When it's too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer, come to the library — hang out, meet up with friends, play or make art, and check out a book. It's free and a fun place to be."
