Don't be fooled by warm, sunny days -- the holidays are creeping ever closer, which means one thing: The annual Post Bulletin Holiday Cookie Contest is soon at hand.

Now is the time to go through all the loose recipes jammed into that kitchen drawer, as well as the notes you've scribbled to yourself about holiday favorites and the special cookies you've baked in the past.

COVID-19 put the traditional contest on pause last year.

But we're back this year to what we've done in the past: you send in your chosen recipe, snail mail or e-mail, we pick finalists, those chosen then bake and bring them in for judging. Our panel of judges tastes and ranks them.

We'll award some prizes and share the recipes with readers.

Deadline for recipes to be submitted is Nov. 17. Finalists will be notified by Nov. 19 and judging will take place Nov. 22. Winners will be notified that day. The recipes will be published Dec. 7.

Send recipes via email to news@postbulletin.com. Please put 'Cookie Recipe' in the subject line. Or send recipes through the postal service to Post Bulletin Cookie Contest, 1700 Greenview Drive SW, Rochester, MN 55902. Recipes MUST be received by Nov. 17.

One thing to remember: No matter how wonderful your chocolate chip cookies are, that's not what we want. Recipes must be for holiday cookies.

So bring out the butter, flour and sugar and get those ovens warming up.
