Doris Franz Heins was born on November 12, 1921, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. She married Kendall Heins in 1946. They lived in Rochester and raised six children.
Doris graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1943. Over the years she taught food preservation, sewing, and other homemaking skills. She was an adult 4H leader. In retirement, she and Kendall explored the byways and corners of America. They spent the winter in Mexico for over 20 years. They delight in watching their family grow. They now have 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
