The Honors Choirs of Southeast Minnesota will perform songs of the season and hopefully raise some money.
On Nov. 16, the Honors Chorale (grades 7-9) and Honors Concert Choir (grades 10-12) will perform the annual fundraising show, "Harvest to Holiday." The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Lourdes Chapel at Assisi Heights in Rochester.
Along with music, there will be food and desserts as well as a wine-tasting. There will also be a silent auction to raise money for the honors choirs. All proceeds from the concert will benefit programming of the 2013-14 season. Along with the Chorale and Concert Choir, there is also a Honors Treble Choir (grades 5-6) and Children's Chorus (grades 3-5). Those two choirs recently participated in a music festival and that's why they are not part of the "Harvest to Holiday" show, said Rick Kvam, who directs the Concert Choir.
Kvam said the fundraising concert was started as a way to keep costs down for children who wish to try out for one of the choirs. This season, the choirs' 22nd, there are more than 220 singers, who represent over 20 different communities and 50 different schools in southeast Minnesota. In fact, many of the best-selling silent auction items are donated by the singers themselves. Their donations include handmade items as well as offers to babysit and some household chores.
"Throughout the years, the most popular items are the ones the children donate," Kvam said. "People are always very supportive."

The set list for the concert includes songs popular across the globe. Some performances will include choreography.
"It's going to be a very fun show," Kvam said. "We have a very talented group this year."
