Jerry Ramaker marks his 80th birthday

Which is Jerry, which is Joe?

Congratulations to Jerry Ramaker on celebration his 80th birthday. He was born at 3:35 a.m. on May 28, 1930, in Preston, followed in a matter of minutes by his twin, Joe.

Jerry graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis in 1953. He spent his working years in the food service industry. He started out working in a bakery, then owning JR's Restaurant in Chatfield until 1985. He was then the Food Service Director for Saga Food Service and the Marriott Corporation.

In growing up on the farm, Jerry always had a love for horses. He started off with riding horses, also raising miniature donkeys and finally miniature horses in 1978, which he still has a passion to work with today.

He has been married to his wife, Sylvia, since 1973, combining two families together. His three children, Cynthia, Carla and Sara, were joined as a family with Sylvia's three children, Lisa, Eric and Marta. Jerry and Sylvia now have six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Over the years, Jerry and Sylvia have enjoyed traveling and showing their horses locally and nationally, winning several Top 10 ribbons.

You are invited to join the family in celebrating Jerry's birthday at an open house on Sunday, June 6, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 Third Ave. SE, Rochester (the big church by Kmart).
