Comfort is king and hats are a staple for local chef Zach Ohly when it comes to his day-to-day garb.

Born and raised in Rochester, Ohly moved away when he was 18 years old and came back 12 years later after living in Duluth, Minneapolis, Denver and the San Francisco Bay area working in a variety of kitchens.

Upon returning to the Med City, he was at the helm of Pescara restaurant for two years. In 2017, he accepted a position as catering chef for Morrison Healthcare at Mayo Clinic, and shortly thereafter, he and his wife opened up Cameo, a popular new restaurant located in Rochester’s old armory building, also known as "The Castle."

When he is not in the kitchen, you can find Zach hanging out with his daughter Charlie (Charlotte), wife Danika, and two dogs, Odin and Thor.

How would you describe your style?

I would say my style is comfortable. You can usually find me in T-shirts, although occasionally I will get dressed up for an event or dinner.

How does being a father impact your wardrobe choices, if at all?

Being a father impacts me more in timing than choosing a style. Our daughter picks out her outfit each day, which can be a time-consuming task, so Mommy and I quickly pick our clothes and we're out the door!

Items in your wardrobe you gravitate toward most often?

My go-to comfort apparel, which is mostly T-shirts and sweatshirts. Typically, I am wearing a chef's jacket every day for an extended period of time, so at the end of the day it's nice to wear relaxed clothes.

Favorite or least favorite trends you're seeing right now?

Least favorite -- skinny jeans and mom jeans. Maybe I'm getting old, but those both look super uncomfortable to me!

Any items your significant other would like to see you toss?

My wife would say I need to get rid of some of my hats. That's an item you can usually always see me in.

How would you describe Rochester's style?

Rochester has a great mix of style. I think it's wonderful to see the diversity we have in the city, and fashion falls into that, too.

Favorite season as it relates to clothing choices?

Winter. I like getting dressed in a sport coat and then throwing a peacoat over the top.

What are the staples you think every well-dressed man should have in his wardrobe?

A nice sports jacket, a show-stopping tie and some funky socks!

Your go-to places to shop?

Undoubtedly Knight's Chamber! Owner Svaar Vinjeand and his team kill it every time with recommendations and customer service.

Any parting words/fashion advice?

I would say the only advice I have is to wear what you want, not what everyone else is wearing.
