Poem: Winter Tease

Winter Tease

A February morning

when a brilliant sunrise turns

Mississippi river bluffs into Egyptian

miracles, camels envisioned crossing

a golden desert, or is it still ice —

wind sailors taking a break over last

weekend's rush to fly across

Mid-winter tease, arriving three

days before a predicted blizzard

forcing us to bend like bare-boned

branches playing tag with the wind

and potential school closings

You and I, making way for whatever's

up next, cross the river, round the bend

putting an end to that which we

continue to say — we love!
