A February morning
when a brilliant sunrise turns
Mississippi river bluffs into Egyptian
miracles, camels envisioned crossing

a golden desert, or is it still ice —
wind sailors taking a break over last
weekend's rush to fly across
Mid-winter tease, arriving three
days before a predicted blizzard
forcing us to bend like bare-boned
branches playing tag with the wind
and potential school closings
