SPRING VALLEY — The movies of the golden age of Hollywood serve as the backdrop for a "A Thirties Affair," which will be presented by Brave Community Theatre Wednesday through Saturday in Spring Valley.
The play is a light-hearted romantic comedy. Pauline is trying to hook up her divorced friend, Carla, with Jason, and discovers they both like old movies from the 1930s. But Carla and Jason resent being thrown together, and put on a show of disliking each other while also secretly dating. Things really get interesting when Carla’s ex-husband returns, and Jason takes up with Cindy, a ditzy actress.
The cast features Laurie Helmers, who also directs, as Pauline, Julie Mlinar as Carla, Rob Johnson as Jason and Sarah Kohn as Cindy. Also in the cast are Jeff Thauwald and Patrick Sween.
Music from the 1930s is performed by Elliott and Karen Grandall, Emily Biermann, Corey Marzolf and Linda Niemeyer.
Performances are at 7 p.m. each day. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and children, available at the door, or online through bctsvmn.ticketleap.com .
