The Sisters of Saint Francis of Rochester recognized and celebrated decades of service completed by several sisters on May 13.
One group that was recognized, the Diamond Jubilarians, celebrated 60 years in the community of the Sisters of St. Francis. They were Sisters Eileen Haugh, Gladys Meindl, Ethylind Loudner, Louise Romero, Alice Ann Campion, Marice Hughes, Florence Simon, Marcellita Dempsey and Judine Klein.
The Sisters also recognized Golden Jubilarians, who celebrated 50 years in the community of the Sisters of Saint Francis. They were Sisters Bernadine Jax, Severin Duehren, Marcella Reilly, Joyce Stemper, Avis Schons and Rosemary Zemler.
Two members of the community, Sister Paula Leopold and Sister Antoine Murphy, also celebrated 75 years of service.
Leopold served for 10 years in the operating room at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, working closely with Dr. Charles Mayo in her early years. She also served in Jenkins, Ky.; Albuquerque, N.M.; Portsmouth, Ohio; Sheriff’s Youth Ranch in Clearwater, Fla.; St. James, Minn.; and Denver, Colo. She has since retired to Assisi Heights.

Murphy's nursing career was almost entirely spent at Saint Marys Hospital. After retirement, she was a member of the hospital's auxiliary, serving in the gift shop and in the library for several years. She now resides at Assisi Heights.
