Solstice Father's Day

Many countries celebrate Father's Day on the third Sunday of June, which occasionally falls on the same day as the summer solstice. Honoring the sun king, patriarch of the solar system, fits perfectly with the Father's Day theme. The moon slips into Virgo to ground the emotions of this celebratory day.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Most people will choose the path that rewards the least amount of effort. Not you. You're interested in deeper, more meaningful rewards. Plus, you're called to an unusual path, and there's not much that could draw you from it, either.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The generous spirit gives without remembering and takes without forgetting. Surround yourself with such spirits, and you'll live a happy life. Know that you represent this to many around you.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). A pretty situation that hides ulterior motives is uglier than an ugly situation. It is far better to be upfront than to try to put on a good front. "Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds." -- Shakespeare

CANCER (June 22-July 22). That person in your life who is never wrong might also seem very infrequently right. It is only in retrospect that you see the consistent wisdom. So look back. This person needs a little more credit these days.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Fire sparks more flames. Someone as passionate as you will ignite the hearts of many others if there is anything in them to burn. Believe in your vision. This one is going to work.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). There's always that question: Is it me or is it them? The answer is usually: It's both. Not now. This time, it's them. Sometimes it's just them, and right now it's definitely them.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Stop waiting for the financial bonanza, and start acting as though you already have it. Tonight's events will inspire you to feel and give more, deepening your wells of compassion.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The pettiness of yesterday seems so grade-school now, as you realize that focusing on those with bigger needs than yours is not only good, but it's healthy and maybe even a little bit fun.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You know you're in complete control of your actions, and yet you simultaneously have a feeing that you're not the one doing it. This is the state of flow that the masters know well.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). There's something you're rebelling from, and this rebellion includes a sense of urgency. Whatever is stopping you from doing what you want to do, there's a way to clear it immediately.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You'll get the sense that everything is coming together as you aim your diverse resources in one powerful direction. Mentors, honest friends and your closest loved ones will help with this.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You and your inner critic will come to an agreement. It's like you're a couple who's been married for decades; you've found a way to work together in spite of your differences.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (June 21). When you don't get what you want, you get what you need, and that's even better. Next month shows you the evidence you've longed to see. August puts you in a fast-paced market, and you'll buy, sell and trade your way into something you've wanted. Love is the answer in October. Family bonds cement over the holidays. Scorpio and Libra people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 4, 19, 22, 28 and 15.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: Happy summer solstice! Today the sun will be perfectly framed in the Sun-Stone of Stonehenge, as well as many other monuments around the world, ancient and modern, and will be met with an exuberant celebration at that. Sun worship has been central to many main religions all over the world throughout history -- and for obvious reason. No sun, no fun. Or food. Or life. Or existence of any kind, for that matter. This is the moment to appreciate the particles of sun inside you. Free your warmth. Let the soul fire burn.

As the Cancer solar journey develops, so will the desire to get your house in order. The clean surfaces of surroundings are both a reality that brightens the mood and a symbol that calms the mind. Cleanliness and orderliness send a message that all is well. When Mars follows the sun into Cancer on Wednesday, expect to delve into the deeper levels of home and its personal meaning. This is an emotional influence for Mars, and the warrior planet gets extremely uncomfortable in this part of the sky. The definition of masculinity changes for Mars in the realm of Cancer. Sometimes the manliest thing to do is to shed a tear.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, was born when both the sun and the moon were on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer. If he were born earlier in the day, he would have been a Gemini with a Gemini moon. Instead, the prince is a Cancer with a Cancer moon and a gift for nurturing and healing. His protective instinct is strong and will grow stronger as his family grows.
