Looking for a festive dress or a fun way to shop?
"There's nothing like a great boutique experience," the chalkboard sign reads outside Exquisite Leather and Luggage'sHistoric Third Street shop, one of its three locations in downtown Rochester. When I stopped in, Lynne Riley, the general manager, had just received a shipment of RYU dresses featuring a crocheted tunic over a slip dress with a little ruffle near the hem.
Slip dresses sans tunic are also available in cocoa, gray and black. "What we've been doing is pairing them with long tanks," said Riley. "You can pair it with a little jean jacket. We have sold them to all ages."
Another fashionable idea Riley shared to help extend summer finds into the fall season: "Put a lace top underneath a tank and you've just extended its life."
Exquisite Leathers and Luggage , 20 Third Street S.W., will be having a "Margarita Markdowns" sale from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Frozen Dresses
"I had 50 pre-orders" for Anna and Elsa dresses from the Disney film "Frozen," said Peg Arnoldof A Child's Kingdom. If you didn't place an order and know a little girl who wants one, they are available in the store, sizes small through extra large, for $29.99. "Frozen" wall decals are available, as are snowflake light-up wands.
The dresses arrived just in time for the "Frozen" Party being hosted at A Child's Kingdom, 1621 N. Broadway, starting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The party is free and no advance sign-up is required.
"I cannot explain the phenomenon," said Arnold. "Every child knows the words to 'Let it Go.' I love that the kids get so excited about it."
There will be singing, dancing, face painting, a character look-alike contest and more.
Entertain at Home
"We have Root candles to set a mood on a table," said Ashley Haeska, manager/designer of Cut Above Home. "A lot of people can't find unscented pillar candles. It's a really good option for when you are sitting at a table and don't want the candle scents competing with your food." The amount of candles, size and variety available there is vast, and that includes unscented pillar candles.
If your style of entertaining involves a grill, you can find the Chicken Leg and Jalepeno Griller, manufactured in Minnesota by Nordic Ware, at Cut Above Home. It'll grill up to 17 chicken drumsticks without needing to be turned. When weather keeps you from the grill, the griller can be used in the oven.
