STEWARTVILLE -- Upstage Theatre will present the dark comedy "The Pillowman" Friday through Nov. 2 in Stewartville.

Nick Rudlong directs the play, written by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh.

"The Pillowman" is about a fiction writer living in a police state who is interrogated about the similarities between his stories and a series of child murders. The show won the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play in London, and the following year won the New York Drama Critics Award for Best New Foreign Play.

The Upstage Theatre production features Andy Walerak, Brian Bedard, Alex Michael Beerling and Olivia Cedotal.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26, 2 p.m. Oct. 27, and 7 p.m. Oct. 31-Nov. 2. Tickets are $25, available at
