Memorial services for MaryJane Achor, 90, of Rochester, will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Madonna Towers, with the Rev. Nancy Wheeler-Handlon officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
MaryJane Cutler was born on Dec. 20, 1920, in Portland, Ore., to Asa and Ruth (Hyndman) Cutler. She died of pneumonia on April 13, 2011, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
MaryJane graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Home Economics. She married Richard W. Achor on Dec. 26, 1943, in Portland. The couple moved to Rochester in 1950 and she taught at the Aldrich Nursery School for 22 years.
MaryJane enjoyed current events, reading, the opera and theater. She really enjoyed working with and teaching children.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael (Vicky) Achor of Rochester and Matthew Achor of Minneapolis; her daughter, Deborah Achor (Gay Urness) of St. Louis Park; her three grandchildren, Kristin (Michael) Pursell of Minneapolis, Zachary Urness of Grants Pass, Ore., and Samuel Urness of St. Louis Park; her two sisters, Dorothy Cutler of Lacey, Wash., and Helen Baxter of Salem, Ore. MaryJane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Robert Cutler and one sister, Barbara Clark.
