Merna G. Graner, 82, of rural Kellogg, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Family graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.

Merna Gertrude Baldwin was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Plainview, Township in Wabasha County, to Kenneth and Naomi (Staudacher) Baldwin. She grew up and attended elementary school at Greenwood Prairie in rural Wabasha County, and graduated in 1946 from Plainview High School. On March 19, 1948, she married Lawrence Graner at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Winona. Merna was employed at First National Bank in Plainview from 1947 to 1948. She then drove school bus from 1962 to 1964 and in 1964 to 1990 she was the school secretary at Wabasha–Kellogg School Systems.

Merna loved her family, grandkids and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel, and Merna and Lawrence spent 21 winters in Texas. Merna enjoyed quilting, playing Bingo, doing crossword puzzles and loved chocolate.

Merna is survived by her husband, Lawrence Graner of Kellogg; one daughter, Judy (Bruce) Barton of Wabasha; two sons, Keith (Janice) Graner of Red Wing and Kevin Kenneth (Mari) Graner of Oronoco; eight grandchildren, Brian Graner, Anne Graner, Matt (Tracy) Barton, Adam (Jamie) Barton, Missy Graner, Laura Graner, K.C. (fiance, Anna) Graner and Tim Graner; and three great-grandchildren, Haylee Barton, Ashlee Barton and Mia Barton. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
