OSTRANDER — Milford Elmer Berg, 92, of Ostrander, died Monday morning, March 28, 2011, at the Ostrander Nursing Home in Ostrander.
He was born Nov. 9, 1918, in Pennington County, Minn., to Ferdinand and Henrietta (Aarness) Berg. Milford was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Goodridge, Minn., and was confirmed at the Ostrander Lutheran Church. At the age of 9 months he moved with his family to a farm in Beaver Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota. Milford farmed all of his life, living on the same farm for over 70 years. On Nov. 22, 1942, he was united in marriage to Hazel Leland of rural LeRoy, and together they farmed for 50 years moving into Ostrander in 1991. After his retirement he continued to help area farmers for many years.
Milford enjoyed fishing and watching the Minnesota Twins.
He is survived by his wife Hazel of Ostrander; four daughters, Donna (Gordie) Briggs of Rochester, Eileen Voyna of Ostrander, Sharon Rowe of Riceville, Iowa and Karen (Ben) Williams of LeRoy; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters in infancy, two brothers and two sons-in-law.
There will be a visitation at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date.
