Monica E. Majerus, 96, of Goodhue, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at St. Brigid’s at Hi-Park in Red Wing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester, with Fr. Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and on Wednesday one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Monica Elizabeth Strauss was born July 14, 1915, in Bellechester, to Stephen and Elizabeth (nee Delva) Strauss. She attended school at St. Mary’s in Bellechester and Good Council Academy in Mankato. Monica graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City on May 29, 1933. Monica married Francis Joseph Majerus on Oct. 15, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellechester. They lived in Goodhue their entire married life. Fran died Sept. 9, 1966.
Monica loved music, especially singing and piano, crocheting, sewing, playing cards and bingo.
Monica is survived by her children, Marlys (Larry) Zimmerman of Apple Valley, Steven (Sandra) Majerus of Rochester, Bonnie (Larry) Schroeder of Bozeman, Mont., and Joe (Bonnie) Majerus of Duluth; 10 grandchildren, Larry, Linda, Melissa, Marc, Jeffrey, Alan, Krista, Mindy, Mollie and Joe; 13 great-grandchildren, David, Anna, Greta, Madison, Morgan, Shelby, Logan, Kahl, Kelsey, Cameron, Evan, Graham and Stig; one sister, Odelia Majerus of Red Wing; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Majerus of Bellechester, Verdelma Strauss of Red Wing and Marge Strauss of Rochester.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fran; and two brothers, Clarence and Vernon Strauss.
