ALBERT LEA — An 81-year-old Austin woman died this afternoon when her minivan collided with a dump truck on Minnesota Highway 13 at an Interstate 90 off-ramp.
Helen L. Moltz, 81, was entering Highway 13 when the Ford Freestar she was driving was hit broadside by the dump truck, driven by Bryan Bartness, 47, of Albert Lea.
Moltz died at the scene, and Bartness was taken to Saint Marys Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. Both drivers had their seat belts fastened, according to the report. The pavement there was dry.
The Albert Lea Police Department and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
