Two motorcycle crashes killed one and injured two others Sunday in southeastern Minnesota.

The fatality occurred on Minnesota Highway 43 near Choice in Fillmore County sometime before 3:30 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol reports.

The person who died was a passenger on the motorcycle. The patrol is withholding the victim’s name to notify relatives. The name is to be released at 6 p.m.

The motorcycle driver, Terry D. Fetterly, 53, of Spring Valley, was listed in serious condition this morning in Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, a Mayo Clinic spokeswoman said. The patrol said he sustained a head injury.

The motorcycle was northbound on Minnesota 43 when a southbound car and the motorcycle sideswiped, the patrol said. The car was driven by Aradath M. Johnson, 67, of Mabel, who had no apparent injury, according to the report.

Earlier the same day, Erich M. Scharf, 23, of La Crosse, Wis., was driving a motorcycle that ran off the ramp from westbound Interstate 90 to northbound U.S. 52, the patrol said. The mishap was reported at 10:25 a.m.
