A 38-year-old man was arrested late this morning in connection with a stabbing outside Rookies Sports Grill early this morning.
Police Lt. Dan Muyres said the man was found digging in the sand at an outdoor volleyball sand court near the scene. He said someone from the hotel-bar complex saw it and called police, believing it was suspicious. Authorities had already cleared the scene when the man allegedly returned and was looking for something. Now, Muyres said, officers have returned with a metal detector to search the sand for evidence.
Muyres said the man was taken into custody on probable cause he stabbed Carlton Fogan, 27, during a fight. The county attorney’s office will decide if the evidence supports criminal charges.
Police continue to look for another assailant who shot Fogan in the upper thigh. The Rookie’s Sports Grill is located at 1517 16th St. S.W.
