Campfire tales
School has started. Halloween is right around the corner. And before you know it, snow will fly and then we’ll be ringing in the new year. So before the beautiful season of fall fades away, Chester Woods invites you to stop by for a little fall appreciation — campfire style. Guests will enjoy hot cocoa as they snuggle around an open campfire listening to campfire tales (last year’s featured folktales and puppetry — you’ll have to stop by to see what’s in store this year).

There is no event fee, but park entry fees ($5 daily or $25 annually) do apply. Meet at Shelter #6. This event is suitable for elementary age on up. Make sure you dress for the weather and feel free to bring a blanket and lawn chairs. Call if the weather looks questionable.

Raise your glass to Y Mentors
Has it been a while since you and your honey had a date night? Then it’s time to find a babysitter and make plans to attend Andy’s Liquor’s 17th Annual Pre-Holiday Wine Tasting. In addition to wine, this adults-only event features Dan Rengstorf at the piano and a small silent auction. The event also includes hot and cold appetizers along with some friendly expert advice from Radisson Plaza staff as to what wines pair best with what appetizers.
All proceeds benefit the Rochester Area Family Y’s Y Mentors program — an ongoing program that currently matches 125 kids throughout Olmsted County with adult volunteer mentors. Tickets for next Thursday’s event are $25 per person and can be purchased at all three Andy’s locations, at the Y or at the door. All wines tasted at the event will be available for purchase — a chance to stock up for holiday parties or do a little early holiday shopping.
