What: Section 1AAA football state tournament quarterfinals between Rochester Lourdes and Minneapolis De La Salle.
Records: Lourdes is 9-2; De La Salle is 11-0.
Coaches: De La Salle, Dick Weinberger, in his fourth season. This is the second time he’s coaches in the state playoffs. Lourdes, Mike Kesler, in his fourth year. This is his third state tournament appearance.

Last game: Lourdes defeated Plainview-Elgin-Millville 31-14 in the Section One finals. De La Salle defeated Saint Croix Lutheran 48-20 in the Section Four finals.
Last year: The same teams played last year, also in the Class AAA quarterfinals with De La Salle winning 35-16 in a game played at Park Cottage Grove High School. De La Salle advanced to the championship but lost to two-time state champion Glencoe-Silver Lake.
AAA notes: Six teams that played in last year’s tournament are back, including champion Glencoe-Silver Lake, De La Salle, Proctor, LeSueur-Henderson, Perham and Lourdes … De La Salle played its Section Four semifinal against Concordia Academy-Roseville also at Macalester … De La Salle is the only unbeaten team left in Class AAA.
State history: De La Salle has made five appearances, in 1989, 1990 (Class B runner-up), 1990, 1999 (champions) and 2007 (Class AAA runner-up). Lourdes has made six state appearances, in 1979 (Class A champions), 1980, 1982, 1983 now three straight, 2206, 2007, 2008.
Up next: The winner advances to the Class AAA state semifinals at 3:15 Friday, Nov. 14 at the Metrodome against the winner of the Proctor (9-2) and New London-Spicer (9-2) game.
