Rochester police arrested two men early today after hearing them boast about robbing a pizza delivery man.
According to police Capt. Jim Pittenger, a Pizza Hut employee was delivering a pizza at 12:20 a.m. to an apartment in the 1500 block of 41st Street Northwest when two men approached him in a common area of the building. The victim told police one of the men held a knife to his head and the other man had a baseball bat and demanded his money and the pizza.
The victim left the building and called police. When officers arrived, they started a search of the building. As they walked past one apartment, they heard people talking and laughing about the robbery, Pittenger said.
Officers knocked on the door of the apartment, and a man matching the description of one of the suspects opened the door. The second man allegedly involved in the robbery was also at the apartment. Officers found boxes for a pizza and breadsticks, a bat and a knife, according to Pittenger. The suspects allegedly had about $50 between them, the amount taken from the delivery man.
