The winter storm watch that had been issued for the region has been upgraded to a winter storm warning for Goodhue, Steele and Freeborn counties as well as much of central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities.
The other counties in this region are under a storm warning, according to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse, Wis.
The forecast predicts snow will start Wednesday around noon, along with some thunder. There is an 80 percent chance of snow with 2 to 4 inches possible. Winds will pick up.
Snow, sleet and thunder are possible Wednesday night. The chance for snow is even higher on Thursday when winds will increase. Chances for snow will be lower Thursday night and Friday. There is a chance for more snow Saturday, while Sunday will be partly cloudy.
