Here’s an alternative way to get hot water when hand-washing a small load of dishes.
After baking or broiling, turn off your oven like usual. Immediately place a metal pan of cool tap water (about 8 to 10 cups) in the oven and close the door.
In about half an hour, pull the pan out of the oven and wash dishes with the now hot water. But be careful, the water temperature may be very hot.
