Dear Answer Man, can you give us an update on the reopening of 50th Avenue Northwest? It was to have been opened by July 1. Thank you. -- Ellen K.

Pray for good weather and the new street will be open by the end of next week. Mike Easley, the city’s construction supervisor, says the $5 million project, which created a 1.2-mile-long, four-lane street where a narrow, dusty, pothole-riddled township road once was, is just about ready to go.

Among points of interest: There’s a traffic roundabout right in the middle of it, where 41st Street Northwest might one day connect.

Let’s hope that whatever development occurs west of Circle Drive at 41st Street preserves at least some of the woods just south of Northern Hills.

There’s no roundabout way of saying this: The Answer Man simply knows everything. Send questions to P.O. Box 6118, Rochester, MN 55903 or answerman@postbulletin.com.
