3 charged after Plainview drug bust

From staff reports

WABASHA -- Three men arrested Thursday while trying to sell half of a kilogram of cocaine to an undercover agent in Plainview were expected to have their first court hearing today in Wabasha District Court after being charged Friday with possession of drugs.

According to the Wabasha County Attorney's Office, the three are: Daniel Lara, 26, no address known, one count each of first-degree and second-degree controlled substance crime; Fidel Loya Zapata, 20, of Plainview, first-degree controlled substance crime; and Gerardo Ramirez, 21, of Plainview, first-degree controlled substance crime.

Ramirez was released Friday; the other two remain in jail.

According to Rochester Police Sgt. Dan Pulford, part of the Southeast Minnesota Narcotics Task Force, the drug bust was the biggest he has been involved with. The three are "very significant players" in drug dealings in the region.

The undercover agent paid $10,000 for the drugs. No street value for the seized cocaine was given.
