DEAR HELOISE: Every summer, our family likes to visit a different city that has some type of major attractions. To make sure that we get the most from our vacation, I call the chamber of commerce in the city and say that we are planning to visit, and can it send us information about attractions that the average person might not know about? DEAR HELOISE: I keep a plastic gallon jug filled with water in the car. When it’s time to get the sand off the kids, I use this water instead of the beach showers, due to the water being warm from sitting in the car. This is less traumatic than trying to get the little ones under the cold shower. — Lauri Tulpala, San Diego
