WINONA — A two-car crash left a Winona man seriously injured Monday morning.
Alan Robert Winstead, 30, of Minnesota City, was driving north on U.S. 61 at 11:52 a.m. when the pickup he was driving collided with a vehicle going eastbound on U.S. 14/Pelzer Street by Richard Joseph Merchlewitz, 79, of Winona, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.
Winstead was not injured in the crash. However, Merchlewitz was transported to Gundersen Health with life-threatening injuries. No update on his condition was available.
The Winona County Sheriff's Office, Winona Police Department, Goodview City Police, Winona Fire Department and Winona Ambulance all responded to the scene.
