A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle traveling south on U.S. 52 near Apache Mall on Wednesday evening, Jan. 20.

Grand Meadow resident Joseph Hoeft, 27, was trying to retrieve a tire that had come off his vehicle when he was hit by a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria, Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Troy Christianson said.

Hoeft was taken by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys.

The driver of the Crown Victoria, 22-year-old Iziah Grendahl, of Rochester, was not injured.

The investigation into the crash continued Thursday; a portion of Highway 52 was closed for crash reconstruction.
