AUSTIN -- A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 seriously injured a 13-year-old girl Thursday night near Austin. Another person also was injured.
All three vehicles were driving eastbound on Interstate 90. Genet Teketel, 46, of Austin, was driving a 2018 Toyota Corolla and attempting to merge into the right lane next to a 2015 Dodge Ram, driven by Ramon Arturo Moya, 50, of Edinburg, Texas.
When the Dodge Ram braked to avoid a collision, a 2007 Peterbuilt semi-tractor trailer driven by Danny Ralph Hoffman, 60, of Worland, Wyo., rear-ended the vehicle.
Moya was not hurt in the crash, but the 13-year-old girl in the vehicle was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys campus with life-threatening injuries. An 11-year-old boywas taken to Austin Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Tekel and a 5-year-old boy and a baby boy in the vehicle were uninjured from the crash. Hoffman was also uninjured.
The Mower County Sheriff's Office, Austin Fire Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance responded to the scene.
