The Austin High girls golf team got the season off to a successful start on Tuesday with a lopsided 398-450 win over Rochester Century.

This was the first meet of the season at the Austin Country Club and despite the windy conditions on the course, the home team won easily in the Big Nine Conference dual meet.

Catherine Wagner led the way for the Austin Packers with a meet medalist round of 89. Kristen Schulstad of the Packers had the second lowest score in the dual meet with an 18-hole round of 99. Those were the only two scores under 100 by either team.

"The wind made it extremely hard to play, and that was on top of the soggy grass," Austin coach Carissa Gabrielson said. "It was only our second time this year playing the front nine, and the first time playing the back. The scores were higher than usual, but it was nice to see everyone improve on the back nine."
