Alcohol blamed as some fans miss Vikings’ victory

Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS — Not all of the nearly 64,000 fans at the Metrodome saw the Minnesota Vikings’ dramatic 28-27 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Three went to jail, seven were ejected and two landed in detox. The common denominator was alcohol.

Minneapolis police answered around 20 service calls during Sunday’s six-hour patrol at the Dome.

The unit commander, Lt. Don Banham, says it was a lighter day than police expected considering "it was Vikings-Packers."

Police and Vikings officials say they’ve made great strides over the past decade to curb unruliness.
