BLOOMING PRAIRIE — Alice Worden Schirmer, 92, of Blooming Prairie, died Saturday (March 1, 2008) at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.
Alice Worden was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Pillager, Minn. She was adopted by Hattie Matthews in 1921 in Benson, Minn., where she attended school. On Dec. 2, 1936, she married Raymond Schirmer in Iowa; he died Aug. 2, 1996. She enjoyed flower gardening, listening to other people’s stories, reading, cooking and baking.
Survivors include seven children, Viola (Warren) Iversen of Blooming Prairie, Harriet (Darrell) Palm of Rogers, Marlys Schirmer of Faribault, Robert of Brooklyn, N.Y., and William of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, and four brothers. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, a sister, and five brothers.
Funeral services were held March 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; the Rev. David Aaker officiated. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in LeCenter, Minn.
