PRESTON -- The funeral for Alleen V. Watson will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with the Revs. Dennis Timmerman and Laura Fladten co-officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson, 73, of Preston, a former nurse, died Wednesday (Sept. 29, 2004) at Ostrander Nursing Home, where she had lived a short time.
Alleen Virginia Ruud was born June 27, 1931, in Bennington Township, Mower County, and graduated from Spring Valley High School. She studied nursing at Rochester Community and Technical College for two years and had worked at Community Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home in Spring Valley. On Nov. 16, she married Richard "Dick" Watson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Roxanne (Gary Michener) Niemeyer of Spring Valley and Marcy (Kevin) Ferrie of Hastings, Minn.; a son, Mark (Jennifer) of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ramona (Roger) Gilbert and Cindy Johnson, both of Spring Valley, and Priscilla (Mike) Keck of Burr Oak, Iowa; and a brother, Orville Ruud of Rochester. Five children and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and an hour before the service Sunday at the church.
