ORONOCO -- The funeral for Allen E. Siems will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island, with Deacon Mike Kuebler officiating. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery.
Mr. Siems, 77, of rural Oronoco, a former Mayo Clinic employee, died Friday (Aug. 2, 2002) at his home.
He was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Oronoco and grew up there. From 1944 to 1946, he served in the Army infantry and achieved the rank of corporal. On Jan. 18, 1945, he married Mary L. Murray in Oronoco. She was a homemaker. Mr. Siems farmed from 1946 to 1952 and from 1971 to 1986, worked in environmental services at the clinic. He was a member of the Oronoco Lions Club, was past commander of the Pine Island American Legion and Oronoco VFW, and enjoyed playing baseball and horseshoes.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Pat) of Mazeppa and Dan of Oronoco; a daughter, Vicki (Kent) Kerkhoff of Pine Island; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beth Herron of North Carolina. His wife and two brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ranfranz Funeral Home in Rochester and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
