Hey, Answer Man: I believe I have caught you in a rare mistake in your column about the original Northwoods League teams. The original name of the Northwoods League Rochester team was the Aces, not the Honkers. — Patrick S.

Dear Patrick: Aren't you a hockey guy? Thought I've seen you around the rinks. Which might account for the brain freeze you've had regarding the late and lamented Rochester Aces.

The Aces were Rochester's short-lived entry in the Northern (not Northwoods) League back in 1993. They were a professional team and didn't last long — one season, in fact. Other teams that first year of the revived Northern League were the St. Paul Saints, Duluth, Thunder Bay, Sioux Falls and Sioux City.

The Northern League now operates as the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

When the Aces left, the Honkers swooped in, so to speak, and have been here ever since as members of the Northwoods League.

And now I will accept your humble and abject apologies for accusing me of making an error!
