MABEL — The funeral for Arden Inglett will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Burr Oak Methodist Church in Burr Oak, Iowa; the Rev. Mike Blevins will officiate. Burial will be in Prosper Cemetery, with the Mabel American Legion and VFW providing military rites.
Mr. Inglett, 91, of Mabel, died Tuesday (March 31, 2009) at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Canton Township, Fillmore County, to Harry and Frances (Bremseth) Inglett, he attended the Prosper School. In July 1942 he entered the Army and served in North Africa and Italy during World War II. In June 1944 he was injured when the ammunition carrier he was driving on Anzio Beach, Italy, hit a mine. Following his discharge in November 1945, he returned to the Prosper area. On Feb. 21, 1948, he married Jeanette Wilbur in Decorah, Iowa. They lived in the Winneshiek County (Iowa) and Fillmore County areas until 1963, then moved to their farm near Mabel.
Mr. Inglett drove a truck, farmed, and did carpentry. He was also a school bus driver for Mabel-Canton schools for several years. He was a member of the Burr Oak Methodist Church, the American Legion and VFW, and enjoyed his grandchildren, socializing, hunting and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife; three children, Dennis of Stewartville, David (Audrey) of Mabel and Darlyne (Ed) Dahle of Ellendale, Minn.; and a sister, Frances Scharberg of Brownsdale. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Samantha Inglett of Rochester, Desiree (Burke) Latten of Winona, Daniel Inglett (fiancée, Amy) of St. Cloud, Minn., Dacia Inglett of Mabel, and Emily, Matthew and Gabriel Dahle of Ellendale; a sister-in-law, Beverly Brenno of Rochester; a brother-in-law, Ronald Wilbur of Chatfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Delores; two brothers, Ervin and Harley; and two sisters, Marles Blume and Helen Fitzpatrick.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church in Burr Oak.
