Area fire departments battle barn fire

EYOTA — A hay barn fire was occupying Dover and Eyota fire departments Friday night.

The fire was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. at a farm on Olmsted County Road 142 east of Eyota. The farm owner was listed in plat records as James Franke.

The barn was engulfed by fire, according to radio discussions between the fire departments. The firefighters were trying to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

Tanker trucks from the fire departments were still trucking water to the fire at 10 p.m.
