WABASHA — A Wabasha man convicted of sexually abusing a girl has been ordered to serve a year in jail.
Brian Paul Hovey, 43, was sentenced Oct. 24 in Wabasha District Court by Judge Terrence Walters on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to a complaint, Hovey repeatedly had sexual contact with the girl starting when she was younger than 13.
Walters stayed execution of a 12-year prison sentence for 30 years, ordering Hovey to probation. As conditions of probation, Hovey must serve the jail time, complete sex offender treatment and aftercare, and register as a sex offender.
