Arnold William Ehrich -- Kenyon

KENYON -- The funeral for Arnold William Ehrich, 89, of Kenyon, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Claremont, the Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating. Burial, with military rites by the Kenyon Veterans Color Guard, will be in the Kenyon Cemetery.

Mr. Ehrich died Friday (Oct. 22, 2004) in Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center. He was born Jan. 4, 1915, in Richland Township, Rice County. The family moved to Cherry Grove Township in Goodhue County when he was a boy. He joined the Army on June 15, 1942, and served in the Pacific theater until his discharge on June 15, 1946. He married Marilyn Kubista on Jan. 29, 1947, in Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. They farmed in Cherry Grove Township, rural Kenyon, until retiring in 2002. She died March 5, 2004. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Claremont and the Kenyon VFW. He was past president and treasurer of the former Zion Lutheran Church in West Concord, of which he was a founder. He enjoyed working with horses, reading, raising chickens, gardening and cards.

Surviving are a daughter, Vivian Meech of West Concord; five sons, Elden (Eileen) of Skyberg, Myron (Mary) of West Concord, Harvey (Missy), Earl (Amy) and Paul (Marla) all of Kenyon; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Fredia Hessedal of Zimmerman, Minn., Veronica (Wilbert) Keske of Claremont, and Violet Zable of Kenyon; and a brother, Albert of Vermilion, Minn. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Hanson Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service.

The family prefers memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church Expansion Fund and Trinity Lutheran Radio Broadcast.
