Assault charges filed in bar assault

Assault charges have been filed against a Rochester woman accused of attacking another woman at a local bar earlier this month and biting her on the hand.

Veronica Mendoza Negrete Gasca, 25, 2315 Park Lane S.E., No. 120, is charged with one count of third-degree assault and one count of fifth-degree assault. A summons has been issued for her to appear Sept. 16 in Olmsted District Court.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the Aquarius Club shortly before 1 a.m. Aug. 1 after bouncers separated the two women.

The complaint said the victim, a 24-year-old Rochester woman, was at the club with friends when Gasca came up, picked up her drink and threw it in the victim's face, grabbed the victim's hair and pulled her to the floor, then punched her in the face several times and bit her hand.
