ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Atlanta M. Fiksdal, a former motel and flower shop owner, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester. The Rev. Gary Benson will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Fiksdal, 88, of Shorewood Commons, Rochester, died Saturday morning (Aug. 17, 2002) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Born Atlanta May Bell on July 31, 1914, in Oakland Township of Freeborn County, she grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School. She worked in Austin prior to her marriage.
She married Edward Fiksdal on April 30, 1939, in Rochester. They started and operated Fiksdal Flowers in 1947 and Fiksdal Motel in 1965, both in Rochester. Mr. Fiksdal died May 4, 2002.
She was an active member of Zumbro Lutheran Church. She was also active in Boy Scouts and the Gamehaven Scout Council.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Charles) Linville of Ottumwa, Iowa; two sons, Gary (Cory) and Glen (Betsy) Fiksdal, both of Rochester; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Vine Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church for an hour prior to the service Wednesday.
