Austin runner finishes eighth overall at big meet
OWATONNA -- Kevin Groh placed eighth overall to help Austin finish ninth in the Ev Berg Invitational in boys cross country on Thursday.
"It's the best the boys have finished during this meet for some years," Austin coach Tony Einertson said.
Rosemount won the 14-team event with 64 points. Mankato West and Rochester John Marshall tied at 68, with West taking second on a tiebreaker. Austin had 258 points.
Groh finished in 16:37.7 to pace the Packers.

"Kevin had an outstanding race, a season-best (time)," Einertson said. "He looked really good."
Isaac Van Proosdy was next for the Packers. He was 42nd with a time of 17:44.6.
"Isaac's been our consistent No. 2 runner," Einertson said. "He ran in good shape today and had a season-best time."
The Packers' other three scorers, Andy Sundal, Brian Forman and Matt Bartholomew ran together as a pack. They finished 67th, 70th and 71st.
"We ran well together as a pack," Einertson said. "But they need to go out faster."
Austin will hold a Packer Invitational meet on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Ramsey Golf Course.
