AUSTIN EDITION Athletics remain winless

HOUSTON -- Giving up the big inning once again led to a loss for Lyle/Austin Pacelli baseball on Monday.

The visitors from Lyle/Pacelli booted the ball around and allowed 10 runs to the host Houston Hurricanes in the bottom of the fourth. This finished off L/P by a 12-0 margin after the top of the fifth inning.

The loss in the Southeast Conference kept the L/P Athletics winless on the season.

Walks, hit batters, errors, and a few timely hits led to the big inning for the home team. L/P starting pitcher Caleb Martin hit two batters and gave up five hits in the decisive barrage by Houston.

"Throw in two errors along with all the problems Caleb had, and it was one of those innings where everything fell apart," L/P coach Steve Baumann said. "That one bad inning has been killing us all year so far. We play a competitive game for a while and then, the bad inning puts us away."

L/P (0-5, 0-2 SEC) plays host to Spring Grove in a conference doubleheader on Thursday at Marcusen Park.
