From staff reports

A 12-year-old Austin boy was treated at Austin Medical Center and released after being involved in a car-bicycle accident Tuesday.

Sam Schulz was riding his bicycle when he collided with a car driven by Dawn Kempen, 34, of Austin. Schulz injured his right leg and thigh and his left arm and forearm, said Police Chief Paul Philipp.

The accident happened at First Avenue and Fourth Street Southwest about 4:40 p.m., said Philipp.

Kempen was not cited for any traffic violations. Witnesses said Schulz was riding into traffic against a red light when the accident occurred, said Philipp.
