FARIBAULT -- The Austin boys track and field team placed second in the Faribault Triangular on Tuesday in the Big Nine Conference.
Rochester John Marshall won the event and Austin finished 13 points behind. The Packers had a number of top finishes in a strong showing on the road.
Bryan Larson won the 200 meters and finished second in the 400 and high jump. Evan Sorenson finished first in the 300 intermediate hurdles and took second in the 110 high hurdles and pole vault.
Out in the field was where the Packers picked up key team points. Todd Krupicka finished first in the discus with a season's best throw. Dan Goettsch finished right behind Krupicka in the discus as he also had a season's best toss. James Dammen won the pole vault for the Packers with a season's best height.
"A second-place finish is a wonderful accomplishment for our team," Austin coach Tony Einertson said. "It was a great night for young men in the field events. The guys did a great job."
