AUSTIN EDITION Austin opens at Red Wing

Austin is the No. 5 seed in the Section 1AAAA football playoffs and will open at Red Wing on Tuesday night.

The Wingers are the No. 4 seed. Red Wing beat Austin in the section finals two years ago.

The Packers ended the regular season with a 1-7 record, but were ahead of Northfield (1-7) and Albert Lea (0-8) in the seven-team section.

Other first-round games at 7 p.m. on Tuesday have No. 7 Albert Lea at No. 2 Farmington; and No. 6 Northfield at No. 3 Faribault.

Waseca is the top section seed for the second straight year and receives a first-round bye. The Austin-Red Wing winner plays at Waseca in round two.
