AUSTIN EDITION - Austin swimmers prove to be too much for Winona

Austin won 10 of the 12 events to roll past Winona 96-84 in girls swimming on Tuesday.

The host Packers swam the last two events as exhibitions after going up 96-59.

Austin had a 1-2-3 finish in both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events. Stacy Bjorlie won each event for the Packers.

Bjorlie was also in on a pair of relay wins. She teamed with Lindsay Lukes, Amanda Martin and Lauren Goettsch to capture the 200 freestyle relay. Bjorlie swam with Lukes, Martin and Chrissy Srock to win the 400 freestyle relay.

Goettsch anchored the foursome that included Janine Davis, Cassie Srock and Nicole Novak in the winning 200 medley relay, the opening event of the meet.

Goettsch also had an individual victory in the 50 freestyle.

Novak won the 100 butterfly for the Packers, Briana Walsh captured the 100 backstroke and Cassie Srock was the winner in the 100 breaststroke. Danielle Chapek captured the diving event for the Packers.

The win moves the Packers to 6-2 in dual meets and 4-1 in the Big Nine Conference. The Packers are still without the services of all-state swimmer Meghan Walsh, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury.
