Events help Humane Society
There are several upcoming events for the Humane Society.
The sixth annual holiday pet photo shoot will be Nov. 7 in the Community Room at Oak Park Mall. Dog photos will be taken from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; cat photos, 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The photographer will be Lisa Dockstader, who has won awards for her pet photography. For more information, call 434-5441.

The Humane Society will be have a booth at the fall craft sale Nov. 12-Nov. 14 at Oak Park Mall. There will be homemade crafts, pet beds and other pet-related items.
Shoppers help
Tickets to the Younkers Community Day sale, Nov. 20, are available. The $5 tickets entitle buyers to $5 off store merchandise that day. Younkers donates ticket proceeds to the Humane Society. To purchase a ticket, call Monica at 437-8103.
An aluminum can drive raises funds for the shelter. There is a large collection trash bin on the north side of the shelter.
Purina emblems valuable
If you use Purina dog or cat food products, take note: The round weight circle emblems, on the side of the bag near the top, are valuable to the Humane Society. Save these emblems and send them to the Humane Society or drop them off at the shelter building.
Dogs and cats available
The Humane Society shelter has dogs and cats that are waiting for new homes. The shelter is at 1010 10th Drive S.E. and is open for animal viewing from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays and 4:30 p.m to 6 p.m. Tuesdays.
